The Amazonian Forest
 The Amazonian Forest is the biggest forest of the world, being 3.650.000 m ² of continuous ones. It is estimated that exist, in the world, a total of 19 million Km ² of tropical forests;

 The annual quantity of rain in the Amazonian Basin is 15 trillion of m ³;

 Of this total, 50 % the forest uses for own survival, 25 % is straightly evaporated and 25 % is drained by the rivers;

 The forest sequestrates a considerable quantity of carbon, so it may be seen as an ecological filter while reducing the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere;

 78 % of the dry land grounds are acid and of low natural fertility;

 It is calculated in the Amazon region a total cleared forest area of around 660.000 Km ²; in other words, 13 % of the original forest does not exist any more;

 In the Legal Amazon Region, there are 286 Unities of Conservation (described as direct and indirect use), with around 100.000.000 of hectares, representing 19 % of the total area. Other 110.000.000 of hectares is reserved for the Native Lands (21 % of the Amazon region). In this way, 40 % of the Amazon region is considered Protected Area.
